Names

Twice a year, I dutifully reminded my high school guidance counsellor that my last name is “Dewald,” not “DeWald.” Each time, he corrected it in front of me, and I politely thanked him. Every six months, we repeated the same conversation, again and again for four years. The spelling of your name is not a petty thing, and I’m glad you wrote so that we may address you by your real name, not something that just resembles it.
